Findability is a term used to describe how easy or difficult it is to locate information quickly. Factors which influence findability include the structure and navigation of the Site, Site Search and respective Search Results display, taxonomy content classification, and overall site design (look and feel).
Findability is very, very important. When people are looking for something, they expect to find it immediately. If they cannot find what they are looking for quickly, they get discouraged.
The good news is you have full control over findability. You can make it easy for people to find what they are looking for when you understand what is involved.
Findability can be divided into two main sections: Information Architecture (IA) and Search. IA can be further divided into two sections: Site Structure and Taxonomy.
